  1. Immersion is the way to go

We spent half of our time taking Mandrin classes and the other half touring. The classes were geared to help us interact at restaurants and markets as well as a few other travel related themes
There are two things that I was very pleased with. The first was our tour director. He was very attentive to our group's needs, flexible with the schedule and solicited feedback. Other guides we encountered were not as good and the students noticed. The second thing was our teacher at the EF school. I teach German and was only on the trip because our Chinese teacher moved on at the last second. As a teacher, I was impressed with he EF school and our instructor. She was able to accommodate a variety of abilities and motivations in here instruction. She's be a great public school teacher!
