  • Our Tour Director is Outstanding!

Overall, the tour was wonderful, and our tour director is exceptional.

HOWEVER, you need to remove the Hotel Excel Ciampino from your list of hotels. It was a hideously bad place to stay! The bathrooms are awful, the food is disgusting, and it is definitely not representative of the overall quality of the tour.

Please split the tours of Rome into two days. We went to the Colosseum in the morning and the Vatican in the afternoon. It was TOO much. If you split the tours into two days, you can add a Circus Maximus tour to the Colosseum portion, which is an excellent addition.

  • Amazing Experience

This is my second tour with EF. It was what and more than I expected. The EF tour director ROCK!
He went out of his way to make sure that the rest of my tour was not spoiled as my purse and telephone was stolen after the second day of my trip. The sites and places I saw were amazing. Seeing the Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa was a dream come true. I especially loved my time spent in Florence but would have loved to have seen more of the countryside as well. Definitely on my list on my next trip to Italy.

  • Move adventure than expected

The group leaders and tour guides and the bus driver were awesome. They did an excellent job. Pompeii was fantastic. The itinerary was great but -

Our trip got off to a bad start because of a certain airline. This was not the fault of EF but made the first day quite grueling.

I know that you are not finding the most popular hotels, but the distance from Rome was very prohibitive. We were out in the country, too far, even for the students. Also Nice would have been a better location than Cannes to have an optimum experience in the Riviera.

Also, I had an encounter with pickpockets. Nothing lost, it was handled. Might want to discuss pickpockets more in depth (explain their tactics).

  • Great Tour

My daughter said all of the accommodations were fine and that their tour guides were very good. One scheduled train trip was derailed due to a strike, but they got them buses no problem. They even refunded part of the cost because of it! Thank you EF for expanding the boarders for my daughter!

  • Disappointed

I approached this tour with an open mind and understanding that the primary focus was for students. I also understood that based on the price we paid, accommodations and food would be modest.
I was really shocked with the poor accommodations on the Rome leg of the tour--the neighborhood, the hotel itself, and the staff were really not acceptable--even for students. The next two hotels were moderately better and my son and I enjoyed aspects of them. However, the most disappointing aspect of the tour were the EF sponsored meals--they were in several cases, inedible. My son ate at McDonalds most of the trip, which by the way...we don't allow at home. EF tours really must fix this--everyone on my tour was appalled with the food selections--poor quality, not enough, and no protein. We had 17 parents traveling on this trip and we all would have gladly paid to upgrade our tour to acceptable food levels and better hotels. Instead, I paid dearly for me and my child to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

Our driver was excellent and our tour guide was a nice woman, but not knowledgeable about the areas we traveled to. Overall, the tour itself was fine and I liked having the opportunity to experience the culture of each city through the free time each evening.

I have traveled to Europe several times previously and find my experience with EF tours sorely lacking--purely based on the food and accommodations. Had this been acceptable, I would have rated the tour a 7 or 8.

  • Travel is learning

The far-out locations of the two-star (not even one three-star hotel to tamper the disappointment) negatively affected the proper implementation of the itinerary.

I would only recommend this tour with the caveat that you get the luck of the draw with EF: if you're lucky, the accommodations and itinerary are good; otherwise the aforementioned will be average. Our son didn't get the luck of the draw.

Some senior citizens traveled with another high school in our tour and they couldn't keep up.

  • Great time!

The overall tour was amazing! The sites were showed to us wonderfully and the tour guides were great. Our main tour guide was amazing! She was so friendly and nice. The only problems I ran into on this trip were the hotels. They were quite small ad some had smashed bugs on the wall and what not. Other than that the experience was terrific. I am truly glad I went on the trip.

  • Under the Tuscan Sun

Getting to see the world was amazing. I got to see history come to life. Our tour guide was everything we could ask for and the EF girls were very helpful and very good company. We had some unexpected obstacles, such as trains being on strike, but the tour directors did everything to make it smooth sailing. The only real problems we ran into were the hotel rooms. Most of them were less than up to par, but when you're seeing such amazing things, it's a small issue. It would have been nice to come back from such long days to comfortable beds and clean showers.
