Getting the word out

Once you’ve selected your tour, it’s time to start generating interest! One of the best ways to get students excited about your trip is to hold introductory meetings. But first, you’ll need to spread the word.

How to promote your tour

Hang up posters
EF has created colorful and inspiring posters you can use to recruit for your tour and to publicize your meeting. We have a variety of destination posters, which include a space to indicate where you’re traveling, as well as when and where your meetings will be held. Ask your tour consultant to send you a poster that features your destination.

Advertise
Make an announcement over your school’s public address system, hand out fliers to potential travelers or take out an ad in your school or local paper. Another effective— and free—way to drum up publicity is to have an article about your tour published in the local paper. You can also log into your account and share your "tour website" with your students.

Enlist some help
Ask your colleagues to assist with recruitment and planning efforts. If a teacher (or two) turns out to be particularly helpful, offer him or her one of your free spots on tour to serve as a chaperone and join in the fun!

Invite students and parents
At this point, your main goal should be to get as many students and parents to your introductory meeting as possible. Fill the room with potential travelers! Speak directly to students you think might be interested in traveling. Make presentations in other classes. Send out an email or letter to parents inviting them to join in the meeting. View our sample parent letter or contact your tour consultant.

"I would recommend traveling with EF to anyone. The experience for the students was truly unique and life changing. As a Group Leader, it allowed me an opportunity to step into the world and use it as a classroom, which was a wonderful experience and I'm already planning our next adventure!"
