Earn high school credit
As the only accredited international travel company, EF enables students
to earn high school credit by completing coursework
on an EF tour. With more colleges putting a greater emphasis on global awareness,
these credits make an impact on college applications.
EF’s course was created by educators and approved by EF Educational Tours’ educational advisory board. The course requirements include 60 hours of preparation, as well as on-tour work and post-tour reflective analysis.
How does the high school credit program work? - Students must be enrolled on an EF Educational Tour and enroll in EF’s credit program (Note: A $100 fee applies. This has been waived through the 2009 travel season, so it’s FREE!)
- Pre-tour: Students read fiction and non-fiction literature and complete pre-tour coursework in travel journals.
- On-tour: Students complete a photo assignment and several standards-correlated travel journal assignments.
- Post-tour: Students write essays on the books they’ve read, answer reflective questions associated with the tour experience and complete two thematic essays.
- Grading: In order to earn credit, students must pass this course with a letter grade based on a teacher’s assessment.
- In total, the credit program requires at least 100 hours of coursework, which is the equivalent of one semester’s work.
- Participating school administration must approve EF coursework for credit. We recommend that students seek prior approval before the tour.

Accreditation
EF is the only international educational travel company to be accredited by the Commission on Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools (MSCES) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This means that all of EF’s international and domestic tours have been recognized for their quality and educational value, meeting the same rigorous standards as the best schools across the United States.
