I grew up in Maine in a little town near the Canadian border. Although we went into Canada on occasion, I never really considered it to be traveling internationally, so I consider my first major travel experience to be the time I spent at the National University of Ireland during my junior year at Bowdoin College. While studying in Galway, I was also able to visit Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Belgium and the Netherlands, and these experiences changed the way I think about the world. I also recognized the lasting impression travel made on my friends who had studied abroad.
I knew that whatever I did after college would have to involve travel in some way, and EF was one of the few companies I found that had a mission that I felt strongly about. Right now is an incredibly important time for students to travel, expand their horizons and increase their understanding of the world, and I love being part of this every day. It's also inspiring to see teachers doing whatever it takes to give their students these opportunities.
What I like best about EF is that it's a truly dynamic company. It's changing all the time. I was especially excited to see EF College Study Tours created and up and running so quickly. I would have loved to have taken one of their tours when I was in school.
I've traveled with EF to Rome, Paris and Florence, but my favorite travel memory is visiting the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. I realized that they were the same cliffs from The Princess Bride, my favorite movie when I was young, except in the film they were called the Cliffs of Insanity!
