Suzy Madge - Tour Director

I grew up as an EF baby. My mum coached tennis for an EF Language School in Torquay on the English coast, and I used to be the ball girl! I first became interested in travel and education at 18 when I began teaching English to foreign students for EF Language Travel. I also worked winters cooking and cleaning in ski resorts in France and Italy, and summers teaching windsurfing in Greece. When I graduated, I knew I didn't want a typical office job in the city. I thought sharing my enthusiasm for Europe and using my languages would be fun.

The best part of my job
is when, at the end of the tour, I know that people have been so inspired that they will someday return to discover more. What I especially love is when students tell me that they intend to return as part of a study abroad program to truly immerse themselves in a place they first visited with me.

I particularly enjoy the tours which showcase the amazing variety of Europe, for instance combining the sights of a major city such as London with the majesty of the Swiss Alps, the postcard-perfect scenery of Lucerne and the unique architecture of Venice.

My funniest travel memory is standing in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, explaining its history, when one of the adult members of my group asked, in all seriousness, "Is there an elevator in there?" I had to inform him that there was not.
